Arnold Arboretum( Harvard University) - Forest Hills

I went on a weekend in the Forest Hills with my husband this month for the autumn scenery. It was sunny, yet cold and windy that day, I bundled up (wore a lot to keep warm) before getting out. The the sound of autumn leaves rustling, the wind and the dusk, everything was a sign of the late autumn, you could smell it and got to know that the winter was coming right on the way.

Although it WAS cold, we felt happy enjoying the great view. In fact, it was the last view of the red leaves in this autumn, lucky me! By the way,the place was the Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University, good to visit all year round except the winter days.

Direction:
Take the MBTA Orange Line to its southern end- Forest Hills, then take bus 38(towards Wren St. via Centre St.) or bus 39(towards Back Bay via Copley Square)

Address: 125 Arborway, Boston, MA 02130
Phone:(617)524-1718
Hours: Monday through Sunday 7:00 am - 6:00 pm

An building like a castle

I like this: the red foliage, a shady path and street lamps and benches(in hiding)

These two photos were great too, colorful leaves beyond the water,I love it.
My hands reached out, catching nothing but a leaf that was falling.

My friend Nana said it was an ink and wash painting, it was! The trees and the houses at the waterside looked amazing!

Enjoy the bewitching autumn foliage on the water's edge.

Carnival, Chongqing—— not the cruise

Carnival, it was one place in Chongqing I visited around last year, not the cruise. As a matter of fact, I won't go there a second time. I guess it has been closed to the public for a couple of years. But you can just go if you like, the local or other guests will help to find a way to get in for free.

I simply would like to share some photos here.

This is my honey, very cute, right ? And his pose was a typical one existed  decades ago, in the generation of Mao.

Ok, it's me, the first time to show up here on the blog.

Again, pose from decades ago, like in the 1960s ?

                        An old bronze bell.

the broken windmill, but looked kind of special, rural style and time-honored.

Hurricane and snow storms in Boston, 2012

During the last year in Boston, something happened for the first time in my life, including the hurricane and the storms. As a matter of fact, we encountered a couple of snow storms last Winter here. I was a little excited and curious, also a little bit concerned. We were told to buy some food as well as water in advance, and stay at home. That day, there was no work, no traffic, no electricity, it was raining cats and dogs, coming with the winds blowing strongly outside. As I lived up on the hill, it WAS somewhat scary, personally. After it stopped, One big tree was found fell on the ground in front of our house.

There're some nice photos related to the first snowstorm, and I like them very much, share with my dear friends here, hope you like.

As for the biggest blizzard in Boston history within decades, I'm sorry for what it brought bad for people, and I'd never seen so much snow before !

Malden, The town where I have been living for one year

I always have difficulty keeping on writing or doing something else. However, I decide to write some now about the place where I live—— Malden, since I found  it very beautiful tonight. Even though I used to think it didn't look good, less organized and less friendly. Honestly, it doesn't look so great compare to Cambridge and Boston downtown area. But this is the place where I have been living for more than one year, and where lots of Chinese people live.IF you're international student or new immigrant without strong financial background, this is a place to live for a while, as the rent is cheap, and you can go around the city easily by train and buses. The public transportation system in Boston is good in the U.S. OK, let's give some pics(taken by my phone) first, we'll see.

Beautiful, isn't it ? I found it when I was on the train, I wished I'd taken my camera. In that case, it would be more beautiful. That's the subway station in the town.

And this is the train which I take the most often in Boston area :

Besides that, neat the station, and there're two super markets, some restaurants and so on, not much special. By the way, I like the library here, it was opened in 1885 in Converse Memorial Building. This building looks like an old castle, and its neighborhood is lovely, especially in the Summer. You can see kinds of plants ,vivid colors, birds, butterflies, squirrels, you name it !

The picture below is the view outside of my window in Winter. Maybe it's just so so to you guys, but good to me.I felt happy that day when I found that the sky beyond me was so blue. @_@

visiting Xi'an & Yan'an

A couple of years ago, I went to Xi'an & Yan'an( Shaanxi province) in China with some friends, and had a good time in the historical city, one of the Four Great Ancient Capitals of China

The places we visited including the Terracotta Army,Huaqing hot springs,Yan'an revolutionary memorial hall, and so on.

Terracotta Army:

The Terracotta Army are lots of sculptures depicting the armies of Qin Shi Huang, the first Emperor of China. These sculptures were burried to protect the emperor after his death in around 200 BC.

When the statue is just excavated out, it is colorful , has vivid colors. However, the color disappears quickly after being in the air since the technology hasn't  been able to protect it. Because of this, most part of the Terracotta Army is still buried underground.

Huaqing hot springs:
It was built in the Tang Dynasty as part of the Huaqing Palace, the place where the emperor Xuanzong and his consort Yang Guifei had baths and their romance.

yan'an revolutionary memorial hall and so on:

There was one interesting thing if you look at the two pics carefully as below:

In the first picture we can't see any nevi on Mao's chin, however there is one in the second picture. It was said that the nevus on Mao's chin didn't appear until when he was 35 years old(or so), and from then on he didn't fail all his life. Is that true ? You could figure it out if you have interest.

good place to travel, the Bahamas

The Bahamas

Couple of months ago, we took a cruise from Miami to the the Bahamas for a four-night trip. There was a lot of fun, we hung out in the strew market, jewelry stores(Nassau); we had a BBQ on the Coco bay; we caught some ray on the beach and couldn't help falling asleep. It was amazing ! Just relax, all the bothering things related to work or study or whatever went out of my mind.

On the cruise, there were also many things to do, like having dance classes, watching movies, rock climbing, enjoying the buffet, and the list went on and on . As a matter of fact, it was the best vocation I have ever had ! Recommend !

Any friends who are interested in having peace and escaping away from the daily grinds could check it out , it won't let you down !

Interesting houses under construction, the contrasting color looked great with the background of blue sky.

the cruise:

strew market: the artworks are beautiful, aren't they ?

Coco Bay ,the beach: when you come here, you just calm down, kick back and relax. I lied there feeling the breeze on my face, hearing the sound from the sea, and appreciated the wonderful view, what a wonderful life it was !
